How to take race registrations on PodiumBase
Turning on registration for your event, what you set up first, and how entries reach you.

How do I start taking entries?
Open your event in your organization admin and go to Registration. Registration is off until you create at least one ticket type, because an event with nothing to buy cannot accept an entry.
The order that works:
- Create your ticket types, one per distance or entry option.
- Set your registration window, so entries open and close when you intend.
- Add any participant questions beyond the core fields.
- Add your waiver text and what the entry includes.
- Add promo codes and add-ons if you are using them.
Each step saves on its own, so you can set this up across several sittings.
What does PodiumBase collect from every athlete?
The core fields are seeded for you: name, date of birth, gender, email, and an emergency contact with a phone number and relationship. You do not create these and you cannot remove them, because results and race-day safety depend on them.
Anything else you need is a participant question you add yourself. See collecting extra information from athletes.
When do entries appear in my roster?
Immediately on payment. A confirmed entry lands in your athlete roster with its answers attached, ready for bib assignment. Entries that are still being paid for, or that were held and abandoned, do not appear on the roster.
Can athletes change their own details?
Yes, until your participant edit cutoff. After that the roster is locked so bib assignment and results are not shifting under you on race week. Changing distance is never self-serve; that is yours to do.
