The race.

The 44th Annual Draper Mile takes place on August 7, 2026, in Blacksburg, VA, featuring a 1-mile downhill road race on Draper Road and a free kids fun run covering the final 300 meters. Packet pickup runs from 2:00–6:15 PM at RunAbout Sports, with races beginning at 6:20 PM and concluding with an awards ceremony at 7:20 PM near Jackson and Draper streets. The mile race includes separate elite heats for men (sub-5:30) and women (sub-7:00), plus open divisions for all abilities organized by finish time. Overall winners receive cash prizes up to $500 for course records, with additional awards for masters and age groups spanning under 9 through 65+. All fun run finishers receive medals, and age group top-three finishers in the mile earn awards.
