About the race

The race.

The 9th Annual Run with the Govs takes place Saturday, June 13, 2026 in Pierre, South Dakota. Two distances are offered: a 3.5-mile trail route and a 3.6-mile option, both starting and finishing behind the State Capitol building in Hilger's Gulch. The trail course winds through the city and features bronze statues of former South Dakota governors. Participants of all ages and leashed dogs are welcome. Registered runners and walkers who sign up by June 1st receive a t-shirt. Awards are presented to overall male and female winners and top finishers in the age 12 and under category for both genders. Race proceeds benefit The Trail of Governors Foundation.
