The race.

The New Year's Run offers 5K and 10K distances on December 26, 2026, in Chicago, Illinois. Participants can choose from four wave start times beginning at 7:30 a.m., with coordinators remaining on-site for three hours after the first wave. All ages and paces are welcome, with participants able to run or walk. Registrants receive a technical running shirt (shipped to their U.S. address before race day), finisher's medal, finisher's towel, digital training pack, and online certificate of completion. Timing is optional and can be tracked through personal apps or with coordinator assistance. A virtual run option is also available. Last-minute registrations are accepted, though shirts for late signups may arrive after the race.
