The race.
Percival's Island Firecracker 5K Race takes place on July 4, 2026, in Lynchburg, VA, featuring a 5K distance on a flat, paved path. The start and finish are located at Percival's Island Natural Area in downtown Lynchburg along the Blackwater Creek Bikeway. Registration costs $30 through June 30 and $35 from July 1–4, with packet pickup available Friday, July 3 from noon to 6 p.m. at Riverside Runners or race morning from 7–7:30 a.m. at the start location. Participants must be age 9 or older. Awards are given to the top 3 overall finishers by gender, top overall masters by gender, and top 3 finishers in each age group (12 & under through 75 & up), based on chip time. The race is part of the Lynchburg Road Runners Race Series.
