Understanding your pre-race brief

When the brief appears

Once you accept a shoot, the race director's pre-race brief unlocks for that engagement. Before you accept, the brief is not available yet, so accept the work first to see it. If the race director has not written it yet, it may be empty until they do.

What is in it

The brief is how the race director tells you what they need for a specific coverage zone. It can include:

• The must-get shots and any style direction.
• Where to meet on race morning and the meet time.
• Kit and prep notes, such as lens suggestions or weather.
• Anything that must stay in or out of frame.
• An on-site emergency contact.

Where you shoot

Your coverage zone comes from the race director, not something you pick yourself. The brief tells you the place and time you are responsible for, so read it before race day and arrive knowing exactly what to capture.
