The race.
The 60th Annual John Demille Firecracker 8K Road Race takes place on July 4, 2026, in Bethel, Connecticut, starting at 8:00 a.m. from the Clifford J. Hurgin Municipal Center at 1 School Street. Online registration closes at 7:00 a.m. on race day, with pricing increasing on June 20th to $45. Participants registered by June 5th receive a tech shirt and race packet at day-of pickup on a first-come, first-served basis for sizes. Overall prize money includes $200 for first place, $100 for second, and $50 for third in both male and female divisions, with additional age-group prizes across nine categories from 10 and under through 70 and older. The race features chip timing and split times with results posted at the finish line, and water stations and refreshments are available throughout.
