Capital City Biathlon & 5K 2026

The race.

Capital City Biathlon & 5K takes place on May 23, 2026, at Danenberger Family Vineyards in New Berlin, IL. The mini-biathlon starts at 7:30 a.m. and includes a 1-mile run and 7.5-mile bike loop. The 5K run and full biathlon both begin at 8:30 a.m.; the full biathlon combines a 5K run with a 15-mile bike course (two 7.5-mile loops). A team option allows participants to split the full biathlon, with one person running the 5K and another completing the bike portion. Packet pickup runs from 6:30 to 7:15 a.m. for the mini-biathlon and reopens after that start until 8:15 a.m. The flat, out-and-back 5K course uses Irish Road. Finishers receive medals and may purchase breakfast food at the winery; awards go to top finishers and age-group winners. Parking is on the east side of the winery, with restroom facilities available inside and outside.
