The race.
The Firecracker 3K takes place on July 4, 2026, in Steeleville, IL, starting at 9:40 AM from Mevert Automotive (1014 W. Broadway) and finishing at American Legion Park. The 3K course follows Highway 4 on the parade route and includes three hills with a course split at the one-mile mark and a sprinkler station. Race day registration runs from 8:00 AM to 9:20 AM. Awards are given to the top overall male and female finishers and to first, second, and third place finishers in each of eleven age categories ranging from under 11 to 60 and over. Trophies are presented at the ticket stand in Legion Park once results are tabulated.
