About the race
The race.
The Founding Fathers 5K Run & Walk takes place on July 4, 2026, in Vermillion, South Dakota. Packet pickup and registration begin at 7:30 a.m., with the walk starting at 8:30 a.m. and the run at 9 a.m. The course starts and finishes at Prentis Park near the North Shelter, running west on Clark Street to Carr Street, then following bike paths along Cherry Street to Pine. Registration includes a t-shirt and post-race refreshments. Awards are given to overall top male and female finishers, age group winners across nine categories from 12 and under through 70+, and best dressed participants. An awards ceremony is held at the Shakespeare grotto stage before the Fourth of July celebration begins. The walk is non-competitive.
