About the race
The race.
The Juneteenth Freedom Day 5K takes place in Madison, IN on June 20, 2026, starting at 8:00 am. The course passes historical African American landmarks and finishes at Gaines Park. Packet pickup and registration occur on Friday, June 19 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the Madison Visitor's Center, or on race day from 6:30 am to 7:30 am at the Garage entryway on Broadway. All participants receive a commemorative Juneteenth Medal. Awards go to first-place finishers in overall male and female running and walking categories. A free children's fun run starts at 9:30 am.
