The race.
The Jelly Roll takes place on October 4, 2026, in Independence, Kansas, featuring mountain bike racing on the Eagle Rock MTB Trails at Elk City State Park. Racers compete in distances of 7, 14, or 21 miles depending on their category, with the course consisting of a 7-mile loop that includes flat, grassy sections and steep, rocky terrain. A Lil' Rippers youth category starts at 9:00 AM with distances varying by age group, followed by the Novice Race at 10:00 AM (7 miles), Cat 1 Race at 11:30 AM (21 miles), and Cat 2 Race at 11:40 AM (14 miles). The race is chip-timed and does not require a USAC license. Cat 1 awards feature 100% payout to top finishers, while Cat 2 and Kids Crew categories award top-three placements.
