Why enrol a selfie?

Where event support, account eligibility, consent, age, and jurisdiction gates allow it, selfie enrollment may return likely eligible matches when bib search misses a covered, creased, or turned-away bib. Either method can miss photos or return a false match.

Where event support, account eligibility, consent, age, and jurisdiction gates allow enrollment, stored-selfie matching can run on eligible published photos while the cross-event feature is enabled and consent remains active. It is a limited-release option, not a promise that every covered race will be searched or that every photo will match.

How do I enrol one?

From your account, open selfie enrolment and add a clear photo of your face. You give biometric consent as part of enrolling, and you can read exactly how the photo is used before you save it.

For the best match:

• Face the camera straight on.
• Use even light, not deep shadow or strong backlight.
• No sunglasses, and nothing covering your face.
• One face in the frame, yours.

A phone selfie is fine. It does not need to be a good photo, just a clear one.

What happens to the selfie itself?

The image is deleted within 60 seconds. Only the mathematical template derived from it is stored, and only while your consent is active. See face-matching mechanics and privacy.

Can I remove it later?

Yes, at any time, from your privacy center. Withdrawing consent queues the stored template for deletion, and you can keep using bib search afterwards. Photos already matched to you stay in your gallery. See how to delete your data.

Why is selfie search not offered at my race?

Two reasons. Either the race is in a place where we do not have a supported legal basis for biometric processing, in which case bib search is the only method, or your account is recorded as under 18, which cannot enrol a selfie.
