How face matching works

How PodiumBase finds your photos using a selfie or your bib number.

Matching a runner to their photos

PodiumBase matches photos to you using a selfie or your bib number. A one-time selfie search compares your selfie against photos from a specific race and deletes the uploaded selfie after processing. If you enroll a selfie for ongoing matching, PodiumBase stores a biometric template while your biometric consent remains active. Your bib number and finish time act as backup signals.

When selfie matching is not available

Selfie matching is opt-in and can be turned off. It is disabled when PodiumBase does not have a known supported race jurisdiction, and PodiumBase falls back to bib-number matching instead.

If you revoke biometric consent, PodiumBase records the withdrawal and queues active enrolled selfie templates for deletion. Operational consent and audit records may remain without selfie images or face vectors.

How long matching takes

Matches usually appear within a few hours of the finish. If you have not seen photos yet, the race may not have been shot or matched yet.
