Registering a group for a race

Availability: Group checkout is available on races that take registration on PodiumBase. If you do not see Register a group, register individually or follow the organizer's external registration instructions.

Can I register several people at once?

Yes, on races that have group registration turned on. You add each runner in turn, give their details, and pay for everyone with one card.

Each runner still needs their own details: name, date of birth, gender, and an emergency contact name and phone. You cannot copy one runner's details across the group, because organizers need real per-runner data for age-group results and for safety.

How does paying for a group work?

Spots for the whole group are reserved first, then you pay once for all of them. While that runs, keep the page open. It takes a few seconds, and if you close it before paying, the held spots are released again shortly afterwards and you start over.

If your card is declined, no one in the group is charged. The whole group succeeds or the whole group fails, so you never end up with three of five runners entered and a bill for all five.

When group checkout includes add-ons or a hosting fee, the group receipt lists those billed amounts with the entries. After the group registration is confirmed, selected pre-sale photo packs are charged separately to the organizer's saved card and are not included in the group-registration total.

What if a group photo-pack charge fails?

If a pack charge fails, the group organizer receives an email identifying the runner when their name is available; otherwise, the email uses a generic group-runner label. The race registration remains confirmed, and that runner was not charged for the pack. They can still get their race photos after the event.

What if a distance sells out while I am filling the form?

You will be told that one of the distances just sold out, and you can adjust that runner and try again. Nobody is charged when this happens. Reserving spots comes before payment for exactly this reason.

Can I use a discount code for the group?

Yes, if the organizer's code allows it. Group codes are checked against the whole group rather than one entry. A minimum spend uses the combined pre-discount prices of the group's entries and selected registration add-ons, so it may qualify for a group where it would not for a single runner. Separately charged pre-sale photo packs do not count. If the code is rejected, the message will say it could not be applied to this group.

Some codes apply only to a specific add-on. Include that item in the group cart; the discount changes only the add-on's price, not the runners' entry fees.
