The race.
The FSRC Independence 5000 takes place on July 4, 2026, in Frederick, MD at Riverside Park off Monocacy Boulevard. The event features a 5K and 1-mile distance, both starting at 8:30 AM on a paved out-and-back trail course. The 5K is free for FSRC club members; non-members may register on race day online. The chip-timed race counts toward the FSRC Grand Prix and offers age-group awards for divisions from 12 and under through 70+, plus overall male, female, and non-binary categories. Water stops and water with ice towels are available during and at the finish; participants should bring their own electrolytes if needed.
