The Rail-Trail Duathlon takes place on June 20, 2026, in Shonto, Arizona, with a 4:00 p.m. start time. Competitors complete a 16-mile course combining cycling and trail running on a rail-trail route paralleling the former Black Mesa & Lake Powell rail bed. Participants bike five miles out from Shonto, then transition to a 10K+ trail run before returning to bikes for a five-mile ride back to the starting point. Registration is $10 for participants 18 and under and $40 for adults, with online registration open through 8 p.m. on June 19 and also available race morning. Registration includes an event t-shirt, finisher's medal, towel, poster, and sticker. Relay teams are permitted, with one member running and one biking. Aid stations supply energy gels, snacks, fresh fruit, Gatorade, and water. Overall and age-group awards are presented to top finishers.
