The race.
The Shades of Death 10 Miler takes place on October 17, 2026, in Avella, PA, starting and finishing at the Polar Star Club. The 10-mile course follows backroads with over 1,200 feet of elevation gain and descent. Three aid stations are positioned at miles 3, 6, and 8, with a 4-hour time limit to complete the race. Finishers receive a t-shirt and runner swag with registration completed by September 30, 2026. A post-race meal, beverages, and live music are included. All proceeds benefit local volunteer fire departments.
