Sportspectrum Firecracker 5k Race for Research 2026

The race.

The Sportspectrum Firecracker 5K Race for Research takes place July 4, 2026, in Shreveport, Louisiana. The 5K (3.1 miles) starts and finishes at the Mall St. Vincent parking lot behind Sears and runs through the historic South Highland neighborhood. The 5K begins at 8:00 a.m.; a separate kids' half-mile fun run starts at 7:30 a.m. Registration costs $25 through April 30, $30 through July 3, and $40 on race day. Packet pickup is available June 25–July 3 at Sportspectrum or race morning 6:00–7:45 a.m. Finishers receive race shirts (short sleeve or tank top); the first 101 male and 100 female finishers receive commemorative mugs, as do the first 10 males and 10 females over 50. Kids in the fun run receive finisher medals. Post-race refreshments include hot dogs, hamburgers, fruit, cookies, water, and beer. Overall winners receive $500; second-place winners receive $250; an additional $500 is awarded for beating the course record.
