The race.

Stairs for Strides 5K takes place May 9, 2026, in East Wheeling, WV, benefiting NAMI Greater Wheeling. Participants can choose between a 5K run/walk featuring 350 stairs or a family-friendly 1-mile walk without stairs, both starting at 9:00 AM from Heritage Port (1200 Greater Wheeling Trail). All participants receive a sweat headband, wristbands, and participation coin. The 5K offers competitive awards for top three finishers overall and in age groups 14-under through 70+, with a separate competitive walk category. Packet pickup is available Friday, May 8, from 10:00 AM–2:00 PM at NAMI's downtown office (1035 Chapline Street), or Saturday morning from 8:00 AM at Heritage Port. An awards ceremony follows at 10:30 AM, with a food truck festival running 10:00 AM–6:00 PM at the venue.
