About the race

The race.

The Hero Hill Climb takes place May 23, 2026, in Dahlonega, GA, with 5K and 10K distances. Participants carry a card bearing the name and biography of a fallen service member up a gravel road, pinning it to a board at the summit and ringing a Freedom bell in their honor. Each participant receives a challenge coin and a flag to carry back down. An after-party follows at The Overhang with food, beverages, and live music. UTV transportation is available for those unable to walk the course, and a virtual participation option is offered. All ages are welcome. Proceeds support Mission22 and the US Mountain Ranger Association, funding veteran wellness programs and suicide prevention initiatives.
