The race.
The Next Loop 40M/50M Challenge takes place on August 29, 2026, in Vernon Hills, Illinois. Runners compete on a 3.1-mile loop course, completing continuous laps to reach either 40 or 50 miles within a 12-hour time limit. The start and finish are at the same location for each loop. A fully stocked aid station operates at every lap, and runners have access to a designated personal staging area near the start/finish. This continuous loop format offers a trail-running ultra-distance experience on a consistent, repeating course.
