About the race
The race.
The Thurmond Triathlon takes place on June 28, 2026, in Thurmond, WV, starting at 10:00 AM from the Dun Glen Day Use Area. Participants complete a 5.5-mile course consisting of a 2-mile bike segment on pavement and gravel from the Historic Thurmond Depot to Stonecliff, a 1.5-mile paddle on the river back to Dun Glen, and a 2-mile run through Thurmond finishing at Dun Glen. Registration and check-in occur at 8:30 AM. All finishers receive medals, and participants who register by June 1 receive short-sleeve event t-shirts. Water stations are positioned along the course, and post-race snacks and lunch are provided. Participants may enter as solo racers, duos, or teams of three or more, and must provide their own bike, helmet, and paddle or arrange a rental watercraft.
