About the race
The race.
The Chicago Trail Running Festival takes place September 12, 2026, in Beecher, Illinois, offering five distances on a natural trail course: 3 miles, 6 miles, 12 miles, 18 miles, and 31 miles. All distances start and finish at the same location and run on the same trail network the same day. Participants may run or hike at their own pace. All finishers receive a soft t-shirt and finisher medal; the longest distance earns an additional 50K finisher medal, and top male and female finishers in each distance category receive 1st place awards. Aid stations stock water, hydration, and snacks; runners must bring their own hydration system. Crew and spectator areas are available.
