The race.

The Skagit County K9 Heroes Fund presents Muddy Paws!, a fun run and walk event on May 30, 2026, in Mount Vernon, WA, benefiting the Mount Vernon Police Department's K9 Unit. Participants can choose from three distances: 2.1 miles, 5K, or 10K, all on gravel, dirt, and grass trails at The Port of Skagit Nature Trails. Registration opens May 23 with day-of registration from 8–9 a.m. for a $10 fee; children 5 and under enter free. Student discounts apply for ages 17 and under, seniors 70 and older receive discounts, and military, veterans, and first responders get $10 off with code HEROES. Limited edition t-shirts are available for $20. An after-party picnic from 11 a.m. to noon includes pizza, snacks, and beverages.
