About the race

The race.

The Cottonmouth 8 Mile & Beerlay takes place June 6, 2026, at Lakewood Nature Preserve in Greenville, SC. Runners can enter as solo participants completing four 2-mile trail loops or as relay teams of 2–4 people with one runner per lap. The race starts at 4:00 PM with packet pickup beginning at 3:00 PM on-site. Participants must bring beers (5% ABV or higher) for a community pool from which they draw randomly before each lap; non-alcoholic carbonated beverages are permitted. Post-race activities include Beer Olympics yard games, pizza available for pre-order, free race photos, custom race bibs, and giveaway items. The first 50 solo participants and 50 teams receive custom race socks. Registration opens September 1st.
