About the race

The race.

NWI Tri Training Day takes place July 18, 2026, in Chesterton, IN, at Kemil Beach in a national park setting. Athletes can participate in a self-paced triathlon training day with swim, bike, and run options: a 1-mile swim in Lake Michigan, a 28-mile bike route around Beverly Shores and Porter County, and a run around Beverly Shores. The 70.3-mile option includes two loops of the bike and run courses. All swimmers must use a buoy. On-course nutrition and bike support are provided, with cold water, Gatorade, and nutrition available at the Kemil Beach parking lot. There is no timing, awards, or race merchandise. Participation is free for NWI Tri members; non-members must purchase an annual membership for $45. A national park pass is required.
