Race to the Sunset 5k 2026

The race.

Race to the Sunset 5K takes place on September 20, 2026, in Chesterton, Indiana, with the 5K starting at 6:20 PM and awards at 7:20 PM. All finishers receive a medal, with a special commemorative medal for those crossing the finish line before sunset. The race features overall and masters (age 40+) awards, plus top-three finishes in 16 age groups ranging from 10 and under through 75 and up. Online registration remains open through race day until 6:10 PM, with packet pickup available September 18–19 from 10 AM to 6 PM and September 20 from noon to 3 PM at Extra Mile Fitness Company in Valparaiso, or on race day from 5 PM. Participants must start by 6:30 PM and complete the out-and-back course using chip timing for results. Race shirts are available to those who pick them up by race day.
