The race.
The West Salem Freedom Celebration 5K takes place June 27, 2026, in West Salem, Illinois. The 5K run/walk begins at 8:30am with a 1-mile kids fun run for ages 1–10 starting at 8am. Registration opens at 7am. Both events start and finish at First Christian Church on West Church Street. The 5K is chip-timed and costs $25; the kids fun run costs $15. All participants in the kids fun run receive medals, while 1st and 2nd place awards are given in each age category and overall male and female divisions for the 5K.
